The Canadian West Highland White Terrier Club Rescue (CWHWTC) was formed to help find suitable new homes for displaced West Highland White Terriers.

Goals:
To locate, rehabilitate and rehome all Westies in need. To educate the public on the consequences of purchasing from Backyard Breeders and Pet Stores/Puppy Mills and encourage purchases from responsible breeders or adoptions from shelters or rescue organizations.

Intake Policy:
All Westies that look to be pure bred are accepted into Rescue, regardless of their origin or registration status.

Obvious mixes will not be taken into Westie Rescue. However the Rescue Committee will make every attempt to ensure that these animals are taken care of by all-breed rescue organizations.

Adoption Process:
Before rescued Westies are adopted, they spend some time in a foster home. After the Westie has been evaluated by the foster care home and the foster care report has been completed, all adoption applications be reviewed to determine which home would be the most suitable for that particular Westie. Adoptive homes are determined by their suitability for a particular Westie and not by the date their application is received.

Donations:
The CWHWTC rescue division is a non profit organization run by volunteers and receives all its monies from private donations and fundraising activities within the organization. All donations are deposited in a special bank account and are used only for Westies in need. We do not receive any outside grant or funding.

All donations are used exclusively to pay expenses incurred in the transport, care and veterinary expenses of the Westies such as health exams, spay/neuter, micro chipping, medication, vaccinations etc. The volunteers are not paid for their time.

All the information about the CWHWTC Rescue Divison and all the forms can be found on the website.
