Rescue & Adoption
is dedicated to rescuing cats that are scheduled to die in high kill,
small Animal Control Shelters, where hundreds or more healthy and
friendly cats die every year, all because they have no where else to go,
and we are often their last hope. Municipal pounds and Animal Control
Centres keep cats 3 - 5 business days and if not claimed by their owners
within that time period they become property of the Animal Control
Centre and can be legally destroyed or sold for research. It is less
expensive for the municipality to euthanize than try to keep them alive
before they find their forever home, and it is often a lack of space
that determines their fate, and most never get a second chance.
We work mainly with several High Kill Animal Control centres and try to help out with as many cats as we can. We also will rescue homeless strays that have most likely been abandoned and left to fend for themselves and often die of starvation, illness, predators, traffic fatalities or from the elements. The average life span of a cat abandoned to the streets is less than 2 years. This life saving work is critical for many of these warm, loving & affectionate souls whose only crime was being born, no longer wanted or finding themselves lost or abandoned. Cats who would otherwise meet with certain death. If space allows, we will occasionally take in surrendered cats but prefer to focus mainly on cats that are about to be euthanized by Animal Control Services or municipal pounds.
